Engine Maintenance

The powerful engine

Proper engine maintenance is vital to ensure your engine gives you years of problem-free operation. There are a lot of things you can do for your car, truck or SUV that will help in the long run but won’t break the bank to accomplish in the mean time.

Filters

Filters are incredibly important in helping to ensure a clean environment throughout your intake system and in your cylinder chambers. At bare minimum you have :an oil filter, an air filter and a fuel filter. All of these need to be replaced at manufacturer recommended intervals.  Make sure to ask your service technician about all of your filters.

Fuel Injectors/Carburetor

Your fuel injectors or carburetor, if you have one, are your fuel delivery devices. Your fuel injectors mist fuel directly into the combustion chamber while your carburetor sprays fuel into the incoming air intake path, mixing along the way to the combustion chamber. If either your fuel injectors or your carburetor are dirty or not tuned properly, you can experience sluggish performance and reduced fuel efficiency.

Spark Plugs

Spark plugs literally start the fire in the engine: They generate the spark that ignites the fuel/air mixture inside each piston chamber. If any of your spark plugs fouls or fails, it can result in lost performance and degraded fuel efficiency. At just a few dollars a piece, changing these out at manufacturer recommended intervals can help you maintain the fuel efficiency and performance of your vehicle.

Sensors

Sensors throughout your vehicle help the engine to perform optimally. They monitor things like your exhaust gases to determine how well the fuel was burned, how much gas / air is in the fuel mixture, the pressure of the intake system and much much more. Make sure to have your sensors inspected to ensure proper operation!
